Drywall Repair in Kearny and Nearby Towns
We repair, patch, hang and finish drywall and plaster inside your home. Before we start, we lay out each option against how long it lasts, so a cheaper fix that cracks again next winter never gets passed off as the better deal.
The Towns We Cover
Our base is Kearny, and most of our work happens within a short drive of it. We regularly take drywall repair and ceiling repair jobs in Harrison, Newark, Belleville, Nutley and Bloomfield. We also cover East Orange on the western side of the area.
To the east we work in Jersey City, Hoboken, Union City and North Bergen, where many jobs are in two-family homes and apartment buildings. Landlords and property managers there often need one unit patched, sanded and ready for paint without disturbing the tenants next door. We keep a clean work area, contain the dust and tell you up front what each repair takes.

What Shapes a Repair Around Here
- Older walls, mixed materials
- Many homes across the area were built before drywall was common. Plaster over wood or metal lath often sits right beside later drywall additions. A patch has to bond to both and match the old surface, so we set the joint with paper or mesh tape and setting-type compound. Lightweight mud alone shrinks and shows a ring within a year.
- Humid summers, dry heating season
- Framing swells in muggy summers and dries out once the heat comes on. That movement pops nails, splits taped seams and opens cracks at door and window corners. Screwing the board back to the stud and re-taping the joint costs a little more than skimming over a crack, but it stops the same line from returning every winter.
- Water from above
- Ceilings under bathrooms, radiators and upstairs units often stain or sag after a slow leak. Once the source is fixed, we cut out soaked gypsum back to sound board. We let the framing dry, then hang, tape and finish new board and match the ceiling texture. Covering a wet ceiling with stain sealer only hides damage that keeps spreading.
- Permits and multi-family buildings
- Most patching and small repairs don't need a permit. Larger jobs that open full walls, or that touch fire-rated walls and ceilings between units, can fall under New Jersey's Uniform Construction Code. We check what your job needs before work begins and explain it plainly.
